Kleiner Führer durch das „Haus Vaterland"

Aus dem Vestibül führt der Weg — über breite Freitreppen oder mit Fahrstühlen — in die große HALLE, die eine Sehenswürdigkeit für sich ist. Mehrere Stockwerke hoch, vermittelt sie den ersten Eindruck von der Ausdehnung des weltbekannten Vergnügungspalastes, der ein Zentrum großstädtischen Lebens und Treibens genannt werden darf.

Ein paar Schritte von der Haupthalle nach rechts führen in die „JAPANISCHE BAR", einen geschmackvoll dekorierten Raum voll behaglicher Stimmung mit japanischer Bedienung.

Nicht weit davon weht Wiener Luft im ,,GR1N-ZING". Hier wird der berühmte „Heurige" auf echte Wiener Art ausgeschenkt, hier klingen die alten Wiener Lieder, von einer Damenkapelle unermüdlich gespielt, und Kabarett-Einlagen schaffen bunte Abwechslung. Das Panorama zeigt im Tal die alte Donaumetropole mit den charakteristischen Türmen des Stephansdomes. Eine Etage höher kommen wir ins „LÖWENBRÄU", ein typisch altbayerisches Lokal. Eine Ländlerkapelle spielt „Schuhplattler" und die anderen alten Bauerntänze aus dem deutschen Süden. Bayerische Spezialitäten zum Münchner Bier —

es ist beste Unterhaltung für jedermann, der sich in die bayerische Alpenwelt versetzt fühlt. Die Aussicht auf Zugspitze und Eibsee unterstützt diesen Eindruck noch mehr.

Von der Galerie des ,,Löwenbräu" geht es direkt in die „WILD-WEST-BAR". In diesem originellen Raum im Stil eines Blockhauses glaubt man sich in die Prärie versetzt. Auf den Tischen stehen Whisky-Flaschen, und die Musik fehlt auch nicht mit amerikanischen Liedern, wie sie drüben gesungen werden.

Neben diesem Raum ist die „CSARDA" neu eingerichtet. Ungarische Weine, feurige Musik, temperamentvoller Tanz — das Leben hier steht keine Minute still und enthält viel von der Romantik der ungarischen Steppen. Auf derselben Etage liegt der „PALMENSAAL", der in seiner bizarren Dekoration bei abendlicher Beleuchtung ein märchenhaftes Bild abgibt, wie es sich die Fantasie nicht besser ausmalen kann. Große Tanzfläche, ausgezeichnete Tanzkapelle, Kabarett und gute Laune überall. Unter dem „Palmensaal" ist der Orient lebendig geworden, in Form eines „TÜRKISCHEN KAFFEEHAUSES", von dem der Blick auf das „Goldene Horn" sieht.

Und wieder ein paar Schritte weiter führen in die „BREMER KOMBÜSE", wo nach Art der alten Bremer Trinkstuben Grog, Punsch, roter Wein und Bier serviert werden und besonders die Seefahrer sich wohlfühlen.

Das Herz des Hauses ist die weite „RHEINTERRASSE" mit einem herrlichen Rheinpanorama, das jeden entzückt, weil die Aussicht so echt wirkt, besonders wenn Wind, Wolken und Gewitter die Landschaft lebendig machen. Hier ist auch jeden Tag ein Varieteprogramm mit ersten artistischen Darbietungen zu sehen. Man sitzt bequem an kleinen Tischen und genießt außer den künstlerischen Darbietungen alles, was die bekannte Kempinski-Küche und die berühmten Kempinski-Keller zu bieten haben.

Rechts ab von der „Rheinterrasse" geht es in die „SPANISCHE BODEGA", wo roter Portwein und süßer Malaga ausgeschenkt werden, daß Spanien wirklich nicht weit zu sein scheint.

Ehe wir das Haus verlassen, führt der Weg noch durch das „KAFFEE VATERLAND", ein imposantes Etablissement mit ringsum laufender Galerie im Oval. Ein großes Orchester von ersten Künstlern konzertiert hier vom Nachmittag bis in die Nacht.

Just A Little Tip How To See "Haus Vaterland"

From the Vestibule broad staircases and lifts lead to the lofty MAIN HALL, in itself certainly worth seeing. Extending several floors upward it tends to give the visitor the first impression of the magnitude of this world - famed Amusement. — Palace, which indeed may be considered the centre of Metropolitan life and its events. Only a few steps to the right of this MAIN HALL is the JAPANESE BAR a tastefully decorated place full of that Eastern atmosphere and of lovely comfort, and Japanese in attendance. Not far from there Vienna air breezes in the GRINZING. Here they serve you the famous "Heurige" in true Vienna style, here you hear the old Viennese songs played by a ladies' band, and cabaret numbers offer gay pastime. The Panorama shows in the valley the old Donau-Metropolis with the characteristic steeples of the Stephansdom.

Going a floor higher and we come into the "LÖWENBRÄU", a typical old-fashioned Bavarian beer-house. A native band plays "Schuhplattler" (clog dances) and many other old peasant dances of the German South. There Bavarian variety performances, going well with Munich beer, and making the best entertainment for him who desires

to transplant himself into the realm of the Bavarian Alps. The view offered of the Zugspitze and •the Eibsee nurses such illusion. From the gallery of the "LÖWENBRÄU" you walk straight into the "WILD WEST BAR". This odd room in the style of a blockhouse, makes you feel like being way-out in the real prairie. You will find whisky bottles standing on the tables and of course there is music, and the American songs and melodies sung just like across the big pond.

Next to the "WILD WEST BAR" you will find the "CSARDA", newly decorated. Here is Hungarian wine, music and that dancing so full of passion and temperament. Not a quiet minute in here, and a feeling of that romance of the wide Hungarian Steppe overcomes you. On the same floor there is the "PALMENSAAL", with its fantastic interior decorations, and when illuminated at night, a picture of fairyland, such as imagination cannot better paint it. There is a large dancing-floor, an excellent music band, cabaret and good humour and tun everywhere. Below the "PALMENSAAL" the Orient has gotten alive in way of a "TURKISH CAFE", from where you can see the Golden Horn stretched out before you.

And going a few steps further you run into the "BREMER KOMBÜSE" where grog, punch, claret and beer are served just as they did in olden times in the Bremen-Drinking-Rooms. This place will especially attract the merry sea-farers. The heart of this big establishments is the "RHEIN-TERRASSE" with its wonderful Panorama of the old Rhine, delighting everybody, as the view appears so real, especcially when from time to time, wind, clouds and a thunderstorm enliven the landscape. Here you will find daily variety shows with the best class of artists. You sit comfortably at small tables and enjoy, besides these performances, all that the well-known Kempinski cuisine and the famous Kempinski wine-caves have to offer you.

On the right of the "RHEINTERRASSE" you will find the "SPANISH BODEGA", where red Port-wine and sweet Malaga are on tap and original wine barrels all around. Really, in there Spain does not seem to you so very far away ! Before leaving the House our way leads through the "KAFFEE VATERLAND".This is a most imposing establishment with a gallery running all round in an oval. There is a large orchestra consisting of high class musicians, giving concerts from the afternoon until late a night.

A partir du vestiaire, le chemin vous conduit — par de larges escaliers ou des ascenseurs — dans le vaste ,,HALL" qui constitue à lui seul une véritable curiosité. D'une hauteur de plusieurs étages, il vous donne déjà la première impression de l'imposante étendue de ce palais de divertissements de réputation mondiale qu'on peut bien appeler un centre d'animation intense de la grande ville.

A quelques pas à droite du Hall principal se trouve le ,,JAPONAIS BAR", une salle décorée avec goût exquis, agréablement impressionnante, avec personnel japonais.

Non loin de là, souffle une brise de Vienne dans le ,,GRINZ1NG". C'est ici qu'on vous sert à la mode de Vienne le célèbre ,,Vin nouveau" et qu'un orchestre de dames vous joue sans se lasser les vieilles mélodies viennoises en y intercalant parfois des numéros de cabaret pour varier les plaisirs du programme. Le panorama montre dans la vallée la vieille métropole danubienne avec les tours caractéristiques de la cathédrale Saint-Etienne.

A l'étage supérieur, nous arrivons à la ,,LÖWEN-BRÄU" (brasserie du lion) de pur style bavarois. Un orchestre champêtre, très couleur locale, joue les danses caractéristiques de la Bavière, entre autres le ,,Schuhplattl" et d'autres vieilles danses

paysannes du sud de l'Allemagne. Spécialité culinaires bavaroises arrosées de bière de Munich. C'est un endroit des plus divertissants, on se sent tout de suite transféré au beau milieu des Alpes bavaroises. La vue panoramique sur la cime de la Zugspitze et le lac Eîbsee renforce encore cette impression.

De la galerie de la ,,Lôwenbrâu" on passe tout de suite au ,,WILD-WEST-BAR". Dans cette salle originale agencée comme un blockhaus, on se croit transplanté dans la ,,prairie" américaine. Sur les tables sont disposées des bouteilles de whisky et la musique qui ne manque pas non plus, entonne des chansons américaines comme on les chante là-bas.

A côté de cette salle, on entre dans la ,,CSARDA" nouvellement aménagée. Vins hongrois, musique fougueuse, danses pleines de tempérament. Ici, pas une minute de calme, la vie bat son plein en révélant bien du romantisme de la steppe hongroise.

Au même étage se trouve la ,,SALLE DES PAL-MI ERS" qui, avec sa décoration bizarre et sa luminosité crépusculaire, donne un tableau féerique tel que l'imagination ne pourrait en concevoir de meilleur. Grand parquet de danse, excellent orchestre de danse, cabaref et partout la plus franche bonne humeur.

Sous la ,,Salle des Palmiers", c'est l'Orient qui se révèle sous la forme du ,,CAFÊ TURC" d'où le

regard contemple le panorama de la ,,Corne d'Or".

Encore quelques pas plus loin et nous voici dans la ,,CAMBUSE BREMOISE" où l'on sert, à l'instar des vieilles tavernes de Brème, des grogs, du punch, du vin rouge et de la bière et où les marins surtout se sentent à leur aise.

Le clou de l'Établissement est la vaste ,,TERRASSE DU RHIN" avec un superbe panorama sur le Rhin dont la vue est un véritable ravissement, car elle donne d'une manière frappante l'illusion de la réalité, surtout quand le vent, les nuages et l'orage font vivre le paysage. Ici, on peut voir assi chaque jour un programme de variétés avec des numéros artistiques de premier ordre. On est confortablement assis à de petites tables et on jouit, en plus de la représentation théâtrale, de tout ce que la fameuse cuisine Kempinski et les caves bien célèbres de Kempinski peuvent offrir.

A droite de la ,,Terrasse du Rhin", on va dans la ,,BODEGA ESPAGNOLE" où sont servis le Porto rouge et le vin doux de Malaga et où l'on peut s'imaginer qu'on n'est vraiment pas bien loin de l'Espagne. Avant de quitter la maison, nous passons encore par le ,,CAFE VATERLAND", un établissement imposant avec une galerie ovale qui en fait le tour. Un grand orchestre composé d'artistes de première force y donne des concerts depuis l'après-midi jusqu'en pleine nuit.
